Allow a full day
This route suits someone already in Ayodhya or able to arrive very early. The Ram Mandir is the main purpose of the day. Leave the queue duration open and keep later activities optional. If you also face a long return journey, do not make completing every stop a condition of a successful visit. This guide is planning advice, not a temple pass or a promise of special entry.
For older relatives, young children or limited mobility, consider two slower days with an overnight stay. Use the arrival day for rest and a nearby outing, then make the main visit the next day. Seeing fewer places can still make a worthwhile trip. Decide around the needs of the group rather than the length of a sightseeing list.
Morning · Keep space for the main visit
Before leaving, check the Temple Trust’s official portal for current darshan, aarti, entry and belongings instructions. Aarti arrangements can differ from ordinary visiting arrangements. Treat unsolicited offers of special passes cautiously. Ask your accommodation about the current approach route and compare that advice with authorised information.
Carry as little as possible. Confirm the current identification and permitted-item rules for your date. Agree on a meeting point in case family members become separated. If you need medicine, water or mobility support, ask about arrangements in advance of security. No fixed queue duration or immediate access is assumed in this itinerary.
Midday · Food, a break and one optional stop
After the main visit, make time for a meal and a seat. If everyone has energy, choose either Hanuman Garhi or Kanak Bhawan. The district administration lists both among Ayodhya’s visitor places. Respect local worship and photography instructions, and check the current approach before connecting one stop to another.
If choosing Hanuman Garhi, ask about the current steps and walking route first. Someone with limited mobility need not accompany the group to every stop. Before using a taxi or e-rickshaw, agree the destination, passenger count and total fare. Ask separately how far the drop-off is from the entrance: a vehicle trip does not necessarily remove the walk.
Evening · A quieter finish by the Saryu
If time and local conditions permit, spend part of the evening around Ram Ki Paidi. Take care on steps, near water and in crowds; keep children close. If you hope to attend an aarti, confirm that day’s place and timing through authorised local information. Avoid treating sunset and the ceremony as a guaranteed fixed appointment.
If catching a train, work backwards from the station transfer before deciding how long to stay. Leaving out an optional stop is better than a rushed departure. Have a simple alternative, such as returning to the hotel or an agreed safe meeting point, if crowds increase or access routes change.
Arrival and accommodation checks
The district administration identifies Ayodhya Dham and Ayodhya Cantt as rail options and Maharishi Valmiki International Airport for air access. Check the full station name and arrival time on your ticket; the two station names are not interchangeable. Confirm current flight and rail availability separately through your booking service.
Ask your hotel how to reach the main walking area, where vehicles can go and when you can leave luggage. Get the room confirmation and check-in conditions in writing. On busy dates, avoid assuming an unbooked room will be available on arrival. Tell the accommodation or restaurant about Jain food or other dietary needs in advance.
Budget practice and a short packing list
For two people for one day, an illustrative allowance is ₹700–1,200 for meals, ₹600–1,500 for local transport and ₹300–600 for small necessities: ₹1,600–3,300 in total. If staying overnight, consider a separate room allowance of ₹1,200–3,000 according to your needs. These are editorial estimates, not current fares or temple charges. Travel to Ayodhya, donations and shopping are separate.
Keep the hotel address, booking references and family contacts on your phone, with a short paper backup where useful. Wear comfortable footwear and reduce the amount you carry. Recheck the weather, district notices and Trust instructions the day before travel. Ask an authorised staff member when you need help rather than following an unverified offer.
